On the morning of 11 March 2004, three days before Spain's general elections, a series of coordinated bombings against the Cercanías commuter train system of Madrid killed 191 people and wounded 1,800.
The bombs were detonated with extreme precision: each explosion was only mere minute apart. Although 13 bombs were placed, 3 did not get a chance to explode, and were removed by authorities.
In the 2004 Madrid Train Bombings, also known as 11-M, involved 4 different trains:
Atocha Station (train number 21431)
El Pozo del Tío Raimundo Station (train number 21435)
Santa Eugenia Station (train number 21713)
Calle Téllez, (train number 17305)
